Do You Know Your Neighbors?

I don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve been noticing more and more that we are not communicating with our neighbors as much.  I think we get so involved with our lives and can get so busy that we neglect those around us.  Me included!  We may know several of them because of church or community events, etc., but do we really know them.  Do they have needs?  Are they lonely?  Could they use just a simple “Hello” or a smile.  I for one am going to try harder to be a better neighbor and I challenge you to do the same.  I think I will benefit more than any of my neighbors.

I created a sheet of tags to help us get started.  Now, I’m not a graphic designer, so they are simple and have plenty of room to add a personal message.

Tuna Rice Supreme

This is one of my favorite recipes.  I’m not a big fan of the old-fashioned tuna noodle casserole, so when I found this one I was a bit skeptical.  But, please take my word for it this recipe is one of the most rich, creamy, and delicious tuna casseroles you will ever eat.  I also like that it contains items I usually have in my pantry.

10 Photos To Take If Your Baby Is In The NICU

This post contains affiliate links.

NICU Photos

I have seen a MILLION posts about what pictures you should take after your baby is born, in the crib, in your arms, the cute toes and fingers and then swaddled like a cute burrito!  I love these pics and especially when they capture your story but, sometimes moms don’t get that fairytale story. Sometimes our precious little ones end up in the NICU.

Well…

I want to share how we moms can still capture those precious moments even though our little one is hooked up to wires and tubes and has to stay in that little box.

Here are 10 pictures you should take if your child ends up in the NICU:

Pallet Board Sign

I have seen a new trend coming out on pallet boards.  There are so many fun ones and since my husband and I are buying our first home (YAY!) I was wanting to do a fun pallet board sign for my son’s room.  This project seriously took only 15 minutes or so and it is SUPER easy! I am going for a nautical look in his room, so I decided to make an anchor board!

Craft Room Post 2

I decided to show you bits and pieces of my craft room makeover rather than the whole thing at once.  I posted last week about a storage solution.  If you missed it you can see it here.   Seeing the progress is making me soooo happy.  Vintage 1950’s is the look I’m going for; I think I would have loved to have lived during that period of time.   Think “I Love Lucy” or “Happy Days”.  My mother tells me that when they went shopping in the 50’s they wore their dresses, gloves, and hats.  It was a time to dress up for.  Can you imagine seeing that now?  She said that it was a less hurried time where visiting on the front porch with your neighbors was the norm in the evenings.  Yes, I think I would have loved living then.

Anyway, I wanted this room to have some color and to be an inspiring room to create.  I really didn’t want to just paint the room I wanted something a little different.  So, I took this:

Pottery Barn Inspired Monogrammed Headboard

Happy Monday!

We were fortunate enough last week to guest post for Craft Baby!

If you didn’t get to see it here it is!

I have 3 girls and with those 3 girls come lots and lots of ideas on how to decorate their room and the most important part to me is the bed;              it’s the focal point of the room!  I saw this cute headboard from one day on Pinterest and I thought I had to do it!

Craft Room Organizing

www.polkadotpoplars.com

For awhile now I’ve been working on organizing and setting up my craft room.  I’ve been a crafter my whole life and I’ve collected a lot of stuff.  Sorting through it all has been hard and time-consuming, but I’m starting to see the fruits of my labors.  Hallelujah!  I will show pictures when I’m all done.

Vintage Inspired Hand Towels

I’ve been trying to get ready for an upcoming Fleattitude boutique and thought I would make some vintage inspired towels to include in my booth.

I’ve shared with you in a past post about my love of Osnaburg Fabric and have seen some awesome things made with it.   So, I thought I would share what I’ve been making.  If you are a beginning seamstress this would be a great project for you.

I cut the fabric into 20″x28″ pieces and sewed a rolled hem around the whole edge.  To do this you simply fold the edge in about 1/4″ and then fold again.  I’ve gotten to where I can do this without pressing it first, but if you are new at this I would press it.  Once sewn I ironed the whole towel to remove any wrinkles.
