Christmas Gift Giving Traditions

I saw the cutest Dad with his four children in the dollar store last night.  The kids were buying gifts for their mom.  The dad told me it was a tradition and that mom would bring the kids to shop for him.  Then the couple will take each of their kids on a “Christmas Date” so they can buy gifts for their siblings and spend one on one time with each child.  How cool is that!  He was so cute with each one and not hurried or stressed.  He even gave each of his kids 50 cents to spend in the gumball machines.

Thanksgiving Appetizers

Can you believe it’s less than one week til Thanksgiving?  I love this holiday, but then there’s the thought in the back of my mind that Christmas follows shortly after and I’m not anywhere near ready.  But, I’m trying to make an effort to enjoy each holiday and not blend them or hurry them along.

Anyway, I’ve been preparing my shopping list for Thanksgiving dinner.  Do you have people hanging out in the kitchen sneaking a bite or two or three of the things you’re making like I do?  I’ve always had a few snacks, but nothing significant, so I’m fixing that this year and looking for Thanksgiving appetizers.

I’ve got a variety of ages I need to please so I’ve gathered some fun recipes from around the web I think will work for all ages.  Don’t these look yummy and fun.  Thought I’d share what I found.

Please Vote For My Stuffed Mushrooms

I don’t consider myself an amazing cook, but I like trying new things and challenging myself to improve.  I’ve always wondered if I would have any chance in a cooking contest.  When I saw this competition announced I jumped at the chance.  The scary thing was that a mystery product was going to be sent to me and I would have to use it to create something delicious.  Ha!  When I got the product in the mail I thought and thought and did some research on Colman’s Mustard.  I had heard of them before, but had never tried the product.  I learned this English product goes way back to the 1800’s and is considered “The Queen’s Mustard”.  The taste is amazing but what I enjoyed more was how smooth it is.

Chair Redo

Happy Veterans Day!  I’m so grateful for my Dad, Uncles, and Brother in Law who served our country and also the sacrifice of their families. As an Army Brat myself I know what that sacrifice is all about.

I’m in the process of decorating my son’s nursery.  I found this chair a while ago and it needed some TLC bad.
