Recycled Basket Stool

I’ve been doing some recycling today.  I’m not much a garbage recycler (I need to change that.), but when it comes to furniture and home accessories I’m all over it.

Isn’t that the way it is with life.  Some times we need to “recycle” ourselves and take some quiet time to make small shifts in ourselves.  We are all beautiful the way we are, but we get stuck in ruts or are making some “not so good” decisions that need to be changed.  Constant improvement and growing is my mantra!  Many times I take a step forward, but then take 10 steps back.  You know….life stuff gets in the way some times.  My ultimate goal is to better myself each day.  Recycle, reclaim, and recover.

I recently found this old broken stool in a dumpster and this awesome large basket at a yard sale.

My Cilantro Lime Dressing

Happy Memorial Day everyone! I hope that you are all having a wonderful happy day! I know that today is more then just swimming and barbecues. It’s a day to remember all those that serve and protect us and it’s also a time to remember those special loved ones that have passed. Preparing For Memorial Day

As a retired Army family we truly appreciate the sacrifice of our fallen military servicemen and women.   I’m grateful we have a special day set aside once a year to remember and pay tribute to them.  I love hearing their stories on TV, seeing the beautiful waving flags that always bring a tear to my eye, and listening to the patriotic music.  I also love all the memories we’ve shared as a family on this day and celebrating the first days of Summer.  Remembering family members who have passed is also an important part, but this day is very difficult for me.

This last weekend I was reminded of the beauty of my home state of Utah.  We traveled south to the red rocks of Goblin Valley for a family reunion to celebrate my Father-In-Law’s 80th birthday.  This amazing man has been a hero to me since I met him 33 years ago.  No matter what he has had to endure he always keeps his integrity.  He loves the outdoors and continues to camp and ATV.  We had a great time.  Here’s a slideshow of our fantastic adventure:

Camping Tips

Our family is getting ready for a family reunion/camping trip and as I’m getting ready I realize that a few of my tips might be useful to you.  We don’t camp a lot and it can be a lot of work, but we enjoy it.  We cherish the time away from real life with family and enjoy the beauty of nature.  We have found these tips help simplify things a bit.

This is a re-post from last year…..

Mothers, and especially Grandmothers, can never have too many pictures of their (grand)children.   This inexpensive and easy idea would be a perfect gift for any mother in your life.
