Mother’s Day Last Minute Gift Idea

Sometimes life get’s so busy that gift giving is pushed to the last minute, but you still want your gifts to be special and memorable.  Here’s an idea that might be helpful if you’re looking for a gift for the special women in your life.  Decoupaged Glass!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Glass vase, plate, etc. (Thrift stores or Dollar stores are great places to find these items)
  • Image cut from a print, napkin, tissue paper, or scrapbook paper
  • Sponge brush or soft bristled paint brush
  • Decoupage medium that dries clear.  I like using Martha Stewart Multi-Surface Gloss Decoupage because it’s dishwasher safe and non-toxic.

Clean the glass item with rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball.  Brush a coat of your decoupage on the glass area where you will be placing your image.  Apply the image to the glass and smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles.  Top coat the image and surrounding area with a coat of the decoupage.  Let dry.  I like to add a few layers of decoupage to keep the image durable.  That’s it.

If you’re giving a vase be sure to add flowers and be sure to add a cute note or tag.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Dru About Dru

There are so many things I could say but I will just start with the basics. Mother to 4. Grandmother to 11 (Yes, 11. All under the age of 9.) I am a former Army wife and we spent 15 years traveling around the world. It was such a thrill to have seen so many places and meeting lifetime friends. I spent many years working in the craft industry and love getting together with friends and creating. I have a lifelong love of thrift shops, antiques, and yard sales.
