This is a re-post from last year…..
Mothers, and especially Grandmothers, can never have too many pictures of their (grand)children. This inexpensive and easy idea would be a perfect gift for any mother in your life.
I adore silhouettes. This beautiful form of art has been around for years and years. Here are silhouettes of my twin brother and I done for my mother (throat clear) just a few years ago.
I have treasured these and wanted to do something similar for my grandchildren. I showed you how I did the frames in my post last week. I then took profile shots of each of my grandkids, had them developed, and cut their head and shoulders out. I then traced these onto black cardstock and cut them out.
You can use an xacto knife or scissors. I feel like I have more control using a small pair of scissors. I’ve also seen silhouettes done using digital editing software. I did it this way because it’s the good old fashioned way of making these.
I then attached the silhouettes onto squares of cream cardstock and framed them. Easy peasy!
I kept mine pretty simple and love the texture on the frame. Other ideas would be to add patterned paper to the background, painting your frames in a different color or even having the silhouette itself be a fun color. Have fun with it.
Here I’ve grouped mine on the wall and even saved room for additional grandchildren (Wink).
I would love to hear what you are giving the special women in your life.
