I think a Christmas tree is the centerpiece decoration in your home during the holidays. It says a lot about you, your style and what is important to you. I’ve had a variety of looks through the years including an old fashioned country look including things my kids made, a rustic cabin look and an elegant modern Victorian vibe. I will usually use the same decorations for several years until I get itchy to do something new. Well, this year is that year and I’ve gathered several beautiful new ornaments and created a Wood tone and silver Christmas tree. I think it’s one of my favorites! I’m excited to show it to you below and thrilled to be a part of this Festive Christmas Idea Blog Hop. I also can’t wait to see what my friends have created.
Welcome back to year six of our Festive Christmas Event where we team up with a bunch of talented blogging friends to bring you a plethora of creative ways to celebrate your holiday season. Wood Tones and Silver Christmas Tree
My Christmas trees have always been very colorful and bright which I have enjoyed. I have so enjoyed gathering, shopping and creating everything that I put on my trees. I also like to create a little scene around my trees to give it that extra punch. The fun thing about decorating anything in our homes is the opportunity to exercise our creativity, try new things and doing what we love. Like they say “You Do You”! I love that! I am always inspired by seeing what others come up with.
This year I went for a more subdued look using neutrals. I believe I’ll enjoy this look for years to come and it will fit in any type of decor. I love the look of the wood tone tans, the white and the varieties of silver and grey. I also got a new 7 1/2 foot flocked pencil tree from Amazon. It’s my first ever flocked tree and I love it. I seriously can’t see these decorations looking as good on a regular green tree plus a pencil tree doesn’t take up much room. I didn’t buy a pre-lit tree because I have a bunch of fairy lights that I wanted to use.
When choosing a look for a Christmas tree you should look at the room it’s going in. Will it clash with what you have? As you can see above I’ve got grey walls and warm tans which are conducive to many colors and styles of Christmas trees. If I had a plum color accent wall I would probably not go with a tree with mostly red ornaments. I believe it’s important to plan what you want your tree to look like. I started with the room’s colors and matched those, but I could have also gone with pretty much any other color combo.
I also do quite a bit of bargain shopping when I look for new Christmas decorations. I simply can’t pay a lot of money for new things. Many of these ornaments are from Walmart. I also purchase things 50% off at Hobby Lobby or buy cost effective things on Amazon. There are also handmade items like the white snowflakes. You can find the tutorial here. I also made the white stars out of air dry clay. Each one has a name on it of one of our family members. I love the challenge of finding decorations that will work together.
I pulled a wooden ladder, some throws and other things I already had to complete the vignette. Everything turned out just like I had hoped. Many times that doesn’t happen, but it’s great when it does. Another tip is to wrap your presents to match the tree. In my case cheap brown and white paper did the trick.
Pull in a few throw pillows, a chair, stockings or a stool, too.
I so hope these ideas have been helpful as you put your Christmas tree together. Use your creativity (Yes! You are creative!) and make it fun! Bring in the family, turn on the Christmas music and enjoy the process.

Dru, I always look forward to seeing your tree because I know it’s going to be gorgeous. LOVE this one so much, especially the way you created the vignette with all the touches.
Shirley, thanks so very much! This is the day in our blog hop that I look forward to every year to see what everyone else has created.
Your silver and wood tone tree is so pretty. We painted our walls grey this year and I’ve been thinking about going with more silver on our tree, so this was inspiring. I adore the little lanterns and would love to get something similar.
Your tree is so nice, and I really enjoyed what you did with the ladder. We built one for our tree but I couldn’t find the right spot for it. I will jl have to try again. So nice.
I love your tree. I can’t believe how affordable it is and those clip on candles…I love. I can see these going into my Amazon cart…lol.
I just love the look of those slender trees and yours is so pretty!!
