Starting as a child, through my growing years and still today I have loved playing and crafting with wood pieces. It started with popsicle sticks and clothespins and little bags of wood turning pieces found in the craft store. So today for my ornament idea I thought I would bring out the wood pieces and create clothespin snowflake ornaments. Be sure to join our blog hop and review the many other ornament ideas below from my blogger friends.

I love the look of homemade Christmas ornaments mixed with shiny balls and store bought ornaments. I think there is so much more meaning to the tree when you know you and your family spent time together creating memorable items for the tree.
Here are some other ornaments I’ve made in the past:

Now to today’s post. Clothespin Snowflake Ornaments.
Clothespin Snowflake Ornament Supplies
- Clothespins (I used 2 7/8″, but you could use any size.)
- Wood Snowflakes
- Ribbon
- Wood Beads
- School Glue
- Glitter
- Paint
- Fishing Line
Clothespin Snowflake Ornament Instructions
- Separate the clothespin from the metal spring. Glue back sides together. Make eight of these for each snowflake.
- Glue points together by first gluing them into a plus sign. Then glue the adjoining pieces in between.
- Glue the snowflake in the middle on the top. Be sure to apply glue all around the bottom of the snowflake. Weigh down with something heavier. Once dry glue a matching snowflake to the other side, weigh down and let dry.
- You could leave your snowflake unfinished and add the fishing twine through one of the holes in the snowflake or
- paint and add embellishments. I painted mine white added some glitter, a gathered piece of ribbon and a painted wood bead. (I used a glue gun to gather the center of the ribbon.)
- Make it in your colors and in your style.
- String fishing line through the hole in one of the clothespins.
In this picture you can see on the second one that I turned every other clothespin the other direction.
I’m so happy with how they turned out and can see so many ways to make them. Be sure to pin this post for future reference.
Now go see what the rest of the bloggers are creating. I can’t wait to see them myself.

These are really cute! I have a huge bag of wooden clothespins somewhere in the laundry room. I think my clothespins need to become ornaments. LOL
Yes they do. They were actually so easy and relaxing to make.
These are cool!
These are so pretty! I love that you added the glitter, of course that could be because I have a serious glitter problem. Lol.
These are beautiful! I love the added glitter.
Hello!
Great idea…will be making in our craft group soon and making for neighbours.
I have a big wooden bag in the laundry room. I think my clothes need to be jewelry. I love that you have added this shine, of course, it could be because I have a problem with severe shine. Join our craft group soon and prepare for the neighbors. These are really beautiful.
