10 Ways To Teach Consideration For Others

(This post contains affiliate links)

It's so important to teach our children to be considerate of others.

I experienced some kind and considerate people today and it was awesome! When I went into a convenience store a young man ran to the door to keep it open for me. My immediate thought as I thanked him was, “his parents taught him well”. Then when leaving the store with my hands full of drinks a sweet teenage girl helped me with the door and another gentleman wanted to help me open my car door. I left feeling a little lighter and it simply made my day. After that experience I thought, “Am I looking outside myself to be considerate of others like these kind people or am I living in my own little world?” I hope my first instincts would be to help or offer a kind word, however, I do think that sometimes we get so busy or in a hurry that we forget the kindnesses of life; the immediate things we can do to make someone’s day a little brighter.

Best Sugar Cookies

The best sugar cookie. Not too sweet.

What’s Valentine’s Day without sugar cookies? I say it’s an absolutely sad day! So, you should make these. They are heavenly!

Have you ever had a sugar cookie that is so sweet that it’s hard to eat the whole thing? I’m not a big fan of a super sugary cookie with the gooey sweet frosting together. It’s just too much and I can only eat a few bites. This recipe creates a nice cookie that’s not too sweet and is a nice balance with the butter cream frosting.

Classic Deviled Eggs Recipe

The Superbowl is this Sunday!! Who are you rooting for?

If you are like me you like to have lots and lots of finger foods on hand for the big day and one of my favorites is deviled eggs. I thought I would share with you my recipe for this yummy classic finger food. There is one difference I do with mine; I add smoked paprika on mine and I think it adds a nice kick, but if that doesn’t sound good to you then feel free to just use the normal paprika over the top.

Leap Day Fun

Leap Day Collage

I’ve always been a little intrigued by leap year because my grandpa was a leap year baby born on February 29th. I remember as a child hearing that he only had a birthday once every four years and I thought that was sad, but kind of cool, too.

Do you know why we have leap years? Our actual year is 365 and 1/4 days long. To keep our modern calendar in sinc with the tropical calendar and to keep things less confusing a day is added every four years to February.

So, even though Leap Day is not a holiday I think we should still celebrate it. After all it only happens every four years, right?!

5 Fast and Easy Midweek Dinners

In my family both my husband and I work full time, so when I get home from work I am faced with having to make dinner. How am I supposed to make a complete dinner and have it ready before 7pm!? So for awhile now we have been settling for mac and cheese and pizza and the go-to favorite breakfast for dinner and I can tell you I AM SO OVER IT and frankly so are the kids.

I have tried the crock pot meals, BUT I leave for work at 7am and don’t get home till 5pm that’s 10 hours! Most recipes only take 6-8 hours to cook, I literally thought about bringing my crock pot to work and just having it cook here at my desk, but no that’s just crazy. We have eaten take out, but that gets super pricey super fast. What other options are there except spaghetti, hot dogs and mac and cheese? Ugh!

I know I need to prep better and have freezer meals all ready to go in the oven, but until I get to that point, I found some fast and easy meals you can make from scratch in 30 minutes or less. I thought this would be helpful for other working moms, single moms/dads out there that have the same problem! I’m not the only one out there with the problem right!?

5 Love Languages for Children

(This post contains affiliate links)

Hello Fellow Parents!

I want to make sure you know that I am not any sort of expert on how you should love your kids and the things we should be doing or not doing, or whatever, to raise our children to be mature, responsible, and loving members of society. But, I wanted to share a resource that I just found out about and thought someone out there could use it like I could. You have heard about the “5 Love Languages For Relationships”, but did you know that there is now a book for children and teenagers?
