Word of the Year! Have Yours? Now What?

Word of the Year

Well, it’s almost the end of January 2016…….Have you chosen a word for the year or set some goals for yourself?

How are you doing?

We are big fans of choosing a word for the year.  The goal of this post is to hopefully motivate you to keep your little word a focus in your life.

I’ve gathered some ideas I’ve found from around the web to keep myself focused and want to share these ideas with you because they’re good ones.

If you don’t know about the “One Little Word” project that is growing in popularity each year you may want to visit Ali Edward’s site. She is the instigator of this amazing idea and has a lot of ideas to be successful in using it to better yourselves.

Best Soup Recipes For Families

Soup Roundup Collage

I don’t know many who are not fans of a nice warm bowl of soup. It’s so comforting and a meal all it’s own. I love that it’s easy to make and can be put in a crock pot in the morning to cook throughout the day or whipped up in under an hour in the evening. Soup is great for leftovers and most of the time tastes even better the next day.

Our family will often gather together for bread bowls and a variety of different soups. We try and choose soups that both the young and old will like and gobble up. In my search for different soups to try I’ve come across these that I think will fit the bill.

Iron Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie

Iron Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookies

OK, you all! I have found my new favorite dessert! I’ve never been able to make a good chocolate chip cookie. For some reason no matter what I do they come out flat. Lately, I’ve been putting my dough in an iron skillet and baking it that way and WOW! The crispy and melt in your mouth goodness can’t be defined. The chocolate chips kind of settle towards the bottom of the pan and the cookie dough crisps on the top and is soft and scrumptious underneath. The skillet is the secret, plus the huge bonus is that it’s so easy. No having to bake multiple cookie sheets full of cookies. Here’s my recipe:

Our Top Posts of 2015

Whew! 2015 flew by for me. Did it for you, too?

I’ve been taking some time to do a thorough review of my life including my accomplishments and what I need to improve on. I’ve been writing down some things I want to accomplish and have come up with my word of the year which is “Grow”. I really want to stretch myself in 2016. I don’t want to see little accomplishments; I want to see big things happen this year in all aspects of my life. I hope I can do it!

One thing I’m proud of and want to see “grow” is our blog. It is so fun to go back through our posts and to see what others have found useful. So, for ourselves and for you we want to do a review of some of our best posts. Our most popular posts from 2014 continue to do really well. Follow this link to read about those.

Arrow Wreath in 15 Minutes!

Now that the holidays are over and I have taken all my Christmas down my house is looking back to normal. I don’t usually go overboard on decorating for the holidays, Christmas is the exception, of course.  I’m a very minimalist decorator and not really into all the clutter, so for Valentines I wanted something that fits into my decor. Nothing fru fru ya know!

DIY Gold Geometric Art

Did everyone have a wonderful holiday!? I hope so! Ours was just great! It was so nice to be able to be in Utah and have family so close by and not have to pack everything up to head to Utah and do the Christmas thing and then pack everything back up to go home like we’ve done for several years before.

I have been seeing gold leaf art everywhere! Now I don’t have one of those amazing MINC machines although I would LOVE one, I had to figure out how to do what I want without one. So this is what I came up with.

As you know those low attention spans can drive you crazy, but if you’re prepared with things like this life is much more fun. This Santa Stop Here sign will really get them excited.

10 Ways to Keep the Christmas Spirit

I was talking with my hair stylist today about how stressful Christmas can be and how as adults it’s easy to lose the excitement we had as children.
