We Want To Tell You a Story

I shared this story on my other blog but wanted to share this with you all here.  This is part of our story.  We have a very sympathetic heart when it comes to mental illness and hope to possibly help others who suffer from this awful condition.  We would love to hear your stories and the successes you’ve had in combating your illness.  With Love!

One and a half years ago I lost my 27 year old son to suicide.

My girls lost their only brother.

It was a horrific day and my worst nightmare.

I want you to know the man my son was.

What an amazing person he is.

But, more importantly I want to share his story (Our story).

Fused Fabric Crafts

Do you know what fusible webbing is?  In my experience not many people know what this is or have ever used it.  Fusible webbing is kind of like fabric interfacing which adds some strength and stiffness to clothing and fabric usually in collars or cuffs.  Webbing is an iron on adhesive that attaches two pieces of fabric together and also adds stiffness and strength.  There are several different brands and can be found on a bolt or in packages at the fabric store.

Rustic Industrial Chic

I am diggin the cool look of Rustic Industrial Chic.  I’ve been noticing it more and more online and in magazines and even during the vintage markets we do many people purchase the metal office supplies, rolling carts, and small metal filing drawers we carry.

The mixture of wood and metal, vintage, and industrial supplies combine to make a cooool look.  I may just have to fit this style somewhere in my home.

So, tell me.  Is this a look you like?

Frame Facelifts

Sometimes I get tired of the same old frames that you can find everywhere.  I have found that it’s fun to dress up a frame to match the décor you have or the project you are working on.

How about adding some twine, rope, or yarn to a cheap frame to add a nautical or masculine feel.

Stars and Stripes Pant

It has been a wonderful, hectic, crazy week for me. I gave birth to our little man over the weekend and he is the most beautiful baby, but he is not ready to come home right away so with all that and my healing and hormones going whack, I am posting a project I did a year ago. (You guys will give me a break right!?)

I really liked how easy it was to put together and I know I am the kind of gal that looks for projects that turn out cute but take the least amount of effort and time. So here it is… my stars and striped pants.

So I have been wanting some ruffle pants for my girls,

I mean they are so stinkin cute, but I was not about to pay $60.00 for an outfit!
I thought maybe I could do it myself.
Now I am NOT a sewer, I can do a hem and sew in a straight line and all, but that is it.
Growing up my sisters and I all got a sewing machine’s when we turned 14 (I think)
So I have had this machine for a while and I am so grateful to have it. Thanks mom!
This is what I came up with.
