Recipe Gift Idea

I’ve been putting some thought into some Valentine’s Day gifts for the special people in my life. I think giving a small token of love is important on this fun day. Candy, or in my case chocolate, is always good, but how about giving a sentimental gift? They mean so much and are kept forever. For Christmas my daughter gave me this beautiful necklace of my son’s handwriting. It truly means so much to have this precious and sweet gift and will be something I will treasure forever. It has motivated me to put even more thought into the gifts or tokens of love I give.

I have a few recipes that were my grandmother’s that I treasure. I love the aged edges and that they are in her handwriting. Do you have keepsakes like this? Maybe some old journals or letters from a grandparent? Wouldn’t framed copies of your items make perfect gifts for your loved ones?

Delicious Salmon Bake

One of my goals for this new year is to get out of the recipe rut I’m in and eat healthier. I’m tired of the same old, same old, so I’m going to try a lot of new things and adjust them, if necessary, to make them more nutritious. I’m a big fan of salmon and this recipe turned out great.

Here’s a favorite recipe of mine.  I got it from my Mom and I make it nearly every year at this time.  If you love almonds these will be addicting. These are perfect for gifts, as well.  I hope you enjoy.

Easy Grape Juice Canning

This is the time of year when many types of grapes are ripe and ready to eat, juice, freeze, or make jelly out of.

There are several different ways to can grape juice and I’ve tried a few of them.  In the past I have borrowed juicing steamers which are awesome, but takes some time.  Juicers can be expensive, too.

Another way is to cover your clean and stemmed grapes slightly with water in a large pot and simmering the heck out of them.  Then you strain the juice through a wire strainer and/or cheese cloth and process.  This also takes some time.

But, recently I found the easiest and quickest way to make grape juice.  This technique has been used for decades and the juice is delicious.
