Recycled Basket Stool

I’ve been doing some recycling today.  I’m not much a garbage recycler (I need to change that.), but when it comes to furniture and home accessories I’m all over it.

Isn’t that the way it is with life.  Some times we need to “recycle” ourselves and take some quiet time to make small shifts in ourselves.  We are all beautiful the way we are, but we get stuck in ruts or are making some “not so good” decisions that need to be changed.  Constant improvement and growing is my mantra!  Many times I take a step forward, but then take 10 steps back.  You know….life stuff gets in the way some times.  My ultimate goal is to better myself each day.  Recycle, reclaim, and recover.

I recently found this old broken stool in a dumpster and this awesome large basket at a yard sale.

My Cilantro Lime Dressing

Happy Memorial Day everyone! I hope that you are all having a wonderful happy day! I know that today is more then just swimming and barbecues. It’s a day to remember all those that serve and protect us and it’s also a time to remember those special loved ones that have passed. I wish I lived closer to Utah so I could have left something special for my brother on his grave, but I think about him all the time and remember him in my heart all year long.

Preparing For Memorial Day

As a retired Army family we truly appreciate the sacrifice of our fallen military servicemen and women.   I’m grateful we have a special day set aside once a year to remember and pay tribute to them.  I love hearing their stories on TV, seeing the beautiful waving flags that always bring a tear to my eye, and listening to the patriotic music.  I also love all the memories we’ve shared as a family on this day and celebrating the first days of Summer.  Remembering family members who have passed is also an important part, but this day is very difficult for me.
