4 ingredient popcorn balls

DSC01851

My twins had their birthday celebration at school the other day and they needed to bring a treat to share with the class.

Well somewhere I heard that teachers hate it when you bring in cupcakes, because they cause such a huge mess. Well, just in case that was true I came up with a treat that was so yummy and so easy to make!

Ingredients:

1 C.  butter

1 C. sugar

1 bag small marshmallows

2 bags microwave popcorn

Directions:

Pop your popcorn as directed and remove any kernals that may have not popped. Melt butter in medium saucepan and then add the  sugar and stir until it dissolves. Add the marshmallows and mix until they are all melted. Add the sauce to your popcorn and mix until it is well coated.  Now to make your balls, you are going to want to liberally smear some butter on your hands and I mean liberally! Then take a handful of the popcorn mixture and press into a ball. That’s it! This recipe make about 25 balls.

I added my balls to some cupcake liners to make it easier to serve and just to make it fun I added a caramel apple stick in the middle and then sprinkled some sprinkles on top. The kids thought it was so cool!

This recipe can be altered in so many ways! I was thinking you could add drizzled chocolate on top or roll them in some crushed nuts or chocolate chips or add food coloring to the mixture to make them different colors. The possibilities are endless with these beauties.

I hope you Enjoy!

Okay, popcorn balls, huh? Reminds me of childhood carnivals! These treats sound dangerously easy to whip up. I bet they’re sticky heaven. I’m picturing happy kids covered in marshmallowy goodness. Once, at a bake sale, my cookies crumbled to dust, similar to unpopped kernels ruining a batch. Thankfully, someone stepped in and saved the day with extra frosting. Sharing is caring! This time I love tester really appreciate kindness.

My own kids love anything they can help make, and these popcorn balls sound perfect for that. We’ve had a blast making themed treats ourselves, like spooky caramel apples around Halloween. Sometimes I even look for inspiration on sites dedicated to Halloween Casual Games for creative ideas. I can totally see how adding colored sprinkles or a drizzle of chocolate would make these even more special for a birthday. Thanks for sharing this!

  9. That’s a clever idea for a school treat! I’ve heard similar things about cupcakes being a classroom baking nightmare, so opting for something like popcorn balls makes total sense. I was thinking about ways to add a bit more flair to my own outgoing communications, and it reminded me of how a well-designed email signature can make a big impression, much like your decorated popcorn balls do for the kids. You mentioned adding sprinkles and sticks, which is brilliant for presentation. I wonder if adding a touch of vanilla extract to the marshmallow mixture would enhance the flavor even more, or perhaps a bit of salt to balance the sweetness?
