This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group and Universal Pictures, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #BoxtrollsFamilyNite http://my-disclosur.esOBsstV
Recently we got the opportunity to gather together with our family to watch the new Boxtrolls movie! We love the time we get to spend together. I was seriously so excited because my kids never got to see it in the theaters so I knew it was going to be a huge hit!!
My mother and sister came up with my niece and nephews this last weekend and we made a day of it! My uber talented mother came up with a recipe to make our own Boxtrolls out of the 10 Count Pop Secret Homestyle popcorn we bought from Walmart!
The popcorn ball recipe we made was all delicious, gooey, and caramelly (I know its not a word, but it should be to describe this amazing treat!). We let it cool for about 30 minutes and added toffee chips and mini chocolate chips!! I seriously could have stopped right there and eaten it out of the bowl, but we didn’t stop there!
We had all the kids shape a body and then a head for their trolls using the popcorn mixture. They then added a graham cracker to the front to make their boxes. We used melted white chocolate as the glue to hold everything on. It does take a second to dry but it worked great!
Look at those cute faces!
We had tins of candy goodness for the kids to decorate their Boxtrolls!
I do have to say we have some mighty talented kiddos in our family!
I wonder where they get it from? 🙂
How cute are these!! Some didn’t make it to the picture because they were being devoured!
After the popcorn all the kids got their pillows and blankets and gathered on the couch. Let me just say they were glued, GLUED TO BOXTROLLS! I have never seen my kids sit so still during a movie! It really is an adorable movie. Even I was sucked into it and for days afterwards my girls called each other fish, eggs, or really whatever they came up with! It’s a great family movie with a great message about making right choices and how to handle peer pressure. I would highly recommend adding this movie to your movie collection. It’s a keeper. Purchased yours from Walmart (while supplies last).
I included the recipe to make your own Boxtrolls or to just sit and eat out the bowl! Your choice!
