At our Christmas parties we’ve usually played the “Pass the Present” game by reading “The Night Before Christmas” and every time the word “and” is said we pass our gift to the right. Or, we’ve done the number game, too, where everyone chooses a number out of a bowl and in number order you pick a present from a pile in the center of the room or pick a present someone has already opened and then that person has to pick again. You know. The same old, same old. Well, this year I’m changing things up a bit.
We are still going to pass the presents, but this time we are going to spin the wheel first. I made this wheel using the ever so popular fidget spinner. If you would like to make your own here’s how I did it. It’s super easy peasy.
Pass The Present Game Wheel Supplies
-
- 8 inch circle of cardboard. (I used a cardboard cake plate found at Walmart.)
- fidget spinner with a large middle
- glue
- sponge brush
- glue gun
- scissors
- Gift Passing Wheel printable
Pass The Present Instructions
- Cut out the wheel.
- Spread glue over the cardboard circle and apply the wheel. Smooth down. Turn over to dry. (I like to use a brush to spread the glue so there are no bumps underneath the paper. You don’t want anything in the way of a good spin.)
- Cut out the arrow and glue on one of the legs of the spinner.
- Put a big spot of glue on the center of the spinner and attach it to the middle of the wheel.
How to play the game
- Have everyone sit in a circle on the floor or in chairs.
- Have each person hold the present they brought.
- You will need to have one person sitting out the game to spin and instruct everyone what to do or have them be prepared to spin and pass their present.
- Set a time limit or a number of spins limit so you don’t go on all night.
- Leader will then spin the wheel and instruct everyone what to do depending on what the spinner lands on. Continue doing this until the time is up.
- Everyone opens the present the were left with.
That’s it. So fast and easy. I wish I could be a fly on the wall and watch you play.

waste your intelligence on just posting videos to your site when you could
be giving us something informative to read?
This is my family’s all time favorite game and we do the same old, same old, pick a number thing too. But now, we’ll be doing your spinner this year! Love that you used a fidget spinner! This is super cool.
Thanks Shirley. Let me know how the game goes for you.
I love this game, but I’ve never done it with a spinner. What a great idea! I’m making this for our Christmas Eve party for sure!
