I have always been a sort of a book worm, don’t get me wrong I love a good movie, too, but there is just something about getting lost in a book that I crave sometimes. Now a days I don’t usually have the time to get sucked into a book, so I am really liking the Young Adult section at my library! Ha don’t judge and I promise Twilight isn’t on my lists of favorites! I really love the fact that they are light reading, I don’t need to sit and ponder the meaning of the book or really take time to make sense of it all. I like that when I have a minute to read I can pick up a book and start off where I left off and not feel completely lost! That doesn’t mean I don’t get sucked in, too, because I’m not gonna lie I have made cereal for dinner for my kids when I want to finish reading a book and if you start any of these series you might ignore your kids, too! HA! Just kidding. I know you readers would never do that, but these series are so good! If you love a light read with great characters with great chemistry and don’t mind a little paranormal thrown in (Ya know like those famous vampires. Wink!) you will LOVE these, too!
Here are my top 5 favorite Young Adult Series!

If you like the Bachelor with a little dystopian culture you will really like this series! Its a really fast read. I think I read 1 book in like 4 hours or so.
Here is the description for the first book
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

It’s been a really long time that I had a book hold my attention like the way this one did. It kind of reminded me of the way I felt when I read Twilight the first time. That was definitely meant as a compliment. I was completely surprised by the way the story ended and loved it. The series isn’t finished yet and I cant wait for the 5th book to come out! Here is the description for the first book.
My name is Evie Claremont and this was to be the making of me–my freshman year of college. I’d been hoping that once I’d arrived on Crestwood’s campus, the nightmare that I’ve been having would go away. It hasn’t.
I may be an inexperienced seventeen-year-old, but I’m grounded…sane. I look for rational explanations to even the strangest circumstances. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he’s near, I feel an attraction to him–a magnetic kind of force pulling me towards him. I know what you’re thinking…that sounds fairly awesome. Yeah, it would be…if he liked me, but Reed acts as if I’m the worst thing that has ever happened to Crestwood…or him. But get this, for some reason every time I turn around he’s there, barging into my life.
What is the secret that he’s keeping from me? I’m hoping that it’s anything but what I suspect: that he’s not exactly normal…and neither am I. So, maybe Crestwood won’t be the making of me, but it could be the breaking of me. I’ve been left to wonder if the dark future my dream is foretelling is…inescapable.

This series isn’t finished either and I am going to read them all again right before the 5th one comes out. It’s that good!!
Picked this book up at 1 AM and read it straight through until 6 AM. A funny, entertaining, and very addicting read.
I loved the take on aliens and the characters are so feisty and fun! It’s one of those “new girl moves to town and falls in with a group of non-humans lead by a gorgeous yet douchey guy” kind of stories, but Katy is a really refreshing main character. She’s snarky and can stand up for herself and despite her attraction to Daemon, she’s not afraid to call him a dickhead when he’s being one.
Definitely a must read for lovers of YA paranormal romance!

Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don’t kill him first, that is.

I am completely enamored with Sweet Evil. It’s one of those books you’re only expecting to read for about a half hour or so (because you’re busy and have other work you should probably be attending to) and end up reading the whole thing in one sitting, forgetting all the things you had to do that day (Spoken from true experience!). So yeah, even though I’ve already read this I will probably re-read it several times over.

The Clockwork Series The Infernal Devices
This book was SO GOOD! If you guys have seen the Mortal Instruments Movie this series is the prequel to that movie and a whole other series of books! I will admit I’m not the biggest fan of 3rd person past tense, so it did take me a little while to get into it, but once I did WOW! The world building and the characters and the story are all fantastic and woven together SO well, and the ending was brilliant, full of action and surprises! I’ve already grown attached to these characters and have become invested in their story and their secrets! It was so well written and the whole story is just wonderful!! I literally was crying at the end!
When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London’s Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.
Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What’s more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa’s power for his own.
Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by—and torn between—two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm’s length . . . everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world. . . . and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

The world-building, characters, and story are phenomenal, and the ending was full of action and surprises. Tessa Gray’s journey in Victorian London, surrounded by supernatural beings and Shadowhunters, is truly captivating!
