Hello! I’m thrilled to be a part of this Christmas Tree Decor Blog Hop. I have been so inspired by the other decor I’m seeing here and I know you will be, too.

Farmhouse Style Christmas Trees

I am not a professional Christmas Tree decorator by any means, but I sure enjoy putting things together that I think will work. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It’s just trial and error and I keep trying until I like it. If you are looking for inspiration and ideas I hope this gives you some.

I live in the country in a cabin like farmhouse, so I’ve chosen decor that goes with that vibe. Let me show you the process I took to get this look.

Decorating a Rustic Christmas Tree

I have never put three trees together for Christmas, but when I found the “Tree Farm” sign I decided three is what I needed to create a tree farm of my own. I went with different sizes for each tree to create interest and not overtake the room with three large trees.

Using three Christmas trees

The large tree has a wood box around it that I made last year. Here’s the tutorial for that if you’d like to make your own.

I used a variety of scarves, blankets, and tablecloths for tree skirts to create a warm and comfortable look. I used a fake cow skin to add interest, too.

I started decorating the large tree with two types of ribbon, a buffalo check and a burlap. I like cutting the ribbon in 6 – 7 feet lengths rather than wrapping the ribbon around and around the tree. Starting with the burlap ribbon pieces I draped them at an angle to make the appearance that the ribbon is wrapped all the way around the tree. I also like pushing parts of the ribbon into the tree rather than letting it just sit on the outside. My feeling is that the ribbon looks better showing here and there rather than being the only thing you see when it’s totally decorated.

Owl Christmas Tree Decor

Rather than use a tree topper like a star or angel I wired an owl ornament at the top. We have a resident owl that lives on our property and creates the sweetest noises that sometimes gets annoying at night, but it’s fun to see him every so often. This owl seemed perfect.

Christmas ornaments

After the ribbon I added the largest ornaments first and staggered them around the tree. I like using multiple sizes of ornaments and decor. I then followed with the smaller ornaments. I like to place ornaments inside the branches, as well as on the outside.

Christmas around the fireplace

I decided to only decorate the large tree and leave the smaller two just plain with lights. The tree is pretty busy and I didn’t want to go overboard.

I decided to add a few items to create a larger scene. I added a sled that my husband used as a child, some blankets and pillows to add softness and a comfortable look, and star wreaths on the cabinets.

Christmas Scene

I’m really happy with how it turned out and it’s added a fun atmosphere to the room and our home.

Now let’s check out the rest of the beautiful Christmas Trees!
