Picnic Caddy

A lot of our picnics and BBQ’s are impromptu and spur of the moment ideas.  We would grab our paper supplies and throw them in a grocery sack and off we’d go or we would take an arm load of supplies to the backyard and then when the wind would catch napkins, etc. it would be a constant chase around the yard.  Know the feeling?

I found this wooden tool box at the thrift store and decided it was the perfect size for a picnic supply caddy.

I liked that it was already painted white.  It would make the perfect color underneath the paint I was going to use.  I used some Hazel & Ruby stencil masks and spelled “PICNIC” on the side.

I then spray painted the whole thing an aqua color.  When it was dry I removed the letters, sanded it a bit, and added my supplies.

I love it because I can just grab it and go.  Any sort of basket or container with handles would also work.

There are so many things I could say but I will just start with the basics. Mother to 4. Grandmother to 11 (Yes, 11. All under the age of 9.) I am a former Army wife and we spent 15 years traveling around the world. It was such a thrill to have seen so many places and meeting lifetime friends. I spent many years working in the craft industry and love getting together with friends and creating. I have a lifelong love of thrift shops, antiques, and yard sales.
