Guest Post – Chalkboard Art

A few weeks ago we announced that we would be starting a new series called “If I Had A Blog”.  For our first post in this series we are thrilled to have Kristi.  She is Brittany’s Sister In Law and a great family friend.  We knew we would be asking her to guest post because she is so talented and crafty.  Take it away Kristi.

Hello there! I am so excited to be guest posting today on Polka Dot Poplars. My name is Kristi and I am a stay-at-home mom of four beautiful children! I’m always looking for something crafty to do.

Chalkboard art has become quite popular lately. I’ve never been an artist or taken art classes, but this interested me and I saw so many cute ideas on Pinterest, I decided to try it out!

There are two ways of doing chalkboard art. You can make and print out printables to frame and mat or draw on a good old chalkboard.
I have really enjoyed trying my hand at drawing.  Here are some of the fun things I’ve done.  They aren’t perfect but it’s been fun trying.  Sorry, not the best pictures, I didn’t know I’d be doing a blog post with them! 🙂

I really like Crayola Chalk and I found some sidewalk chalk with great, vibrant colors. It seems softer and easier to use than the regular “school” chalk. (You might just have to hide it from the kids!) Home Depot sells chalk board sheets that are about 2 feet by 4 feet and about a quarter of an inch thick. They can be cut to any size and you can even put a cute frame around it.

It’s so fun, I hope you give it a try!

Kristi! You have been busy.  You’ve inspired me to try chalkboard art.  Thanks for sharing.

Dru About Dru

There are so many things I could say but I will just start with the basics. Mother to 4. Grandmother to 11 (Yes, 11. All under the age of 9.) I am a former Army wife and we spent 15 years traveling around the world. It was such a thrill to have seen so many places and meeting lifetime friends. I spent many years working in the craft industry and love getting together with friends and creating. I have a lifelong love of thrift shops, antiques, and yard sales.

At school I loved being called to the blackboard and writing on the wall with chalk. During breaks we often drew. There are situations at the university when you don’t even have time to have lunch. That’s why I decided to buy cheap essay papers and other complex tasks. After using this service, it became easier for me to plan my time and I no longer feel overwhelmed.
