Giving Back During The Holidays

Every year I like to give a little something to someone less fortunate.  Usually it’s a child from an Angel Tree or a toy given to someone collecting for a homeless shelter or group.  This year I wanted to do a little more.  I’ve put a little more thought into things and have found some awesome opportunities.  I’m sure all of you do this already, but for those who are looking for opportunities I thought I would share my list to inspire you.  I won’t do all of them but these are the things I’ve researched.

One important thing to mention is that giving back doesn’t have to include money or spending.  Time is a huge gift.

Real Bottle Brush Trees

I absolutely love bottle brush trees in all sizes.  I recently purchased some from a craft supply company, put them in bleach to remove the green color and sold them at a flea market boutique.  They were hot and I sold out in the first hour.

Christmas Gift Giving Traditions

I saw the cutest Dad with his four children in the dollar store last night.  The kids were buying gifts for their mom.  The dad told me it was a tradition and that mom would bring the kids to shop for him.  Then the couple will take each of their kids on a “Christmas Date” so they can buy gifts for their siblings and spend one on one time with each child.  How cool is that!  He was so cute with each one and not hurried or stressed.  He even gave each of his kids 50 cents to spend in the gumball machines.
