A Little of This And a Little of That

We’ve had a lot going on lately, so wanted to share a variety of things.  First of all, if you live in Utah or want to travel we would love for you to attend:

We are thrilled to be vendors at this amazing event.  If nothing else you need to come just to enjoy the views.  You can walk throughout this working farm and visit with the animals.  It really is a treat.

We’ve also been doing some canning.  If you missed Jessica’s Pear Sauce you can find her recipe here.  I also used my pears and made some Pear Butter.  I grew up eating Apple Butter which is similar but I’ve never tried Pear Butter.  P.S. If you’ve never tried Apple Butter you should.  You can find it in most grocery stores in the Jam and Jelly section.  I found a yummy recipe for the Pear Butter at First Look Then Cook.  Definitely a keeper recipe.  My pear tree went crazy this year so I need to figure out what to do next.

Also, had a pretty good crop of tomatoes so made some salsa.  I used a recipe from Doris and Jilly Cook.  It just sounded the easiest and something I would like and it worked out great.  Wish I could give you all a bottle.

Just wanted to catch you up with what she’s been up to.  She and her family moved 900 miles away.  She’s been busy getting her new home in order and taking care of her growing family.  We miss them like crazy.  She will be back with the blog soon once she’s gotten settled.

And this cute girl has been busy with a new home….

She’s got so many plans and ideas to make her fun new house her own and she will be sharing that here soon.  She told me she’s been taking lots of photos of befores and afters.  I’ve seen what they’ve been doing and it’s going to be amazing to watch the process.

So, please bear with their absences.  Jessica and I will continue to hold down the fort for a little while longer.  Hopefully, not too much longer.

Another thing on our minds right now is the death of my son.  October 1st marks two years.  His birthday is also on October 3rd.  We think of him often, but it’s especially hard this time of year.  Jeremy’s sisters amaze me with their continued strength and perseverance during the last two years.  They have been my rock during a really hard time for all of us.

And last, but not least.  As most of you know I’ve been participating in a competition called “So You Think You’re Crafty”.  Now, I don’t think I’m more crafty than anyone, but I love a good challenge and I wanted to gather some more friends to our blog.  If you aren’t familiar with this competition or think you might like to enter be sure to visit this website.  The owner, Tauni, owns and runs a blog conference called “Snap” held once a year.  I went to Snap this year and learned so much and just simply had an amazing time rubbing shoulders with other bloggers.  Anyway, I would love for you to follow this competition.  If you already have been following and want to know which projects were mine here you go:

So far, these projects have kept me in, but every week it’s a nail-biter.  This week the theme is “Birthdays”.  I can’t tell you which one is mine, but please go vote for your five favorites.

Hope you are enjoying your last few days of summer.  My favorite time of year is almost here.  I’ve already been feeling Fall in the air.
