Christmas is such an amazing time of year for so many reasons. The feeling in the air is full of happiness and joy. It’s a time we share with family and friends, celebrate the birth and life of our Savior, Jesus Christ, sing Christmas songs, and show our love for those around us.
I think LOVE is the magical word for the season, don’t you? We all want to feel loved all the time, but isn’t Christmas a wonderful time to share some extra love to the lonely, the needy, or someone whom you are very thankful for or who are extra special to you.
Christ continuously shows his love for us and we should follow his example in showing love for others. I love the new Christmas campaign from Mormon.org, Light the World. This little video has motivated me to take some extra time this year to share his message and serve those who might need some love.
Today I’m sharing some printables and ideas that will help you share your love easily and can be done in an evening. (Printables below)
We were inspired by a talk from Dieter F. Uchtdorf where he mentions that gifts don’t have to be flashy to be meaningful. They came up with the idea of the brown paper packages to represent the humble gifts Christ gives to us.
As disciples of Jesus Christ our Heavenly Father, at times, will use us to serve others. We should all remember and share the love our Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ, has for us. Their love is the most important love of all.

They’ve also included this quote which can be included with your gifts or framed and used in your own home.

I would suggest that you take some time to gather your family together and discuss what love and service means to them. As a family come up with a list of people who need some love shown to them or who you want to show your appreciation for. Your list could include:
- A single mom or dad
- A family member in your own home
- Someone who has been sick
- Someone who has served you
- Someone who is struggling
- Someone who spends much of their time serving
- A single person who doesn’t have family nearby
- A family member or friend whom you love so much
My favorite part of these printables is that they can be used in so many different ways. Here are some of our ideas:
Print on a paper bag “You Are Loved”, insert a candle or light inside and place on someone’s porch for them to see. Attach or insert a special note for them. This one goes perfectly with the Mormon.org theme of Light the World.
Send postcards with a sweet note sharing your love.
Use the tags and hearts and give a box of 12 gifts to a single mom for them to open one at a time for the 12 days before Christmas.
Fill a bag with goodies, attach a note, and deliver.
And how about a pocket gift attached to a doorknob or hung somewhere to brighten someone’s day.
I know that serving and showing love can bring so much happiness in our lives. It has mine.
