Out of all the fruit harvested in the late summer peaches are my number one favorite.
Other than sliced peaches with sugar and milk here is another recipe we love.
- 3/4 cup butter or margarine, divided
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 cups sliced, peeled fresh peaches
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cup flour
- 1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- Melt 1/4 cup butter and pour into an ungreased 9 inch baking pan. Sprinkle with brown sugar.
- Arrange peach slices in a single layer over sugar.
- In a mixing bowl, cream sugar, remaining butter, egg, and vanilla. Mix well.
- Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Spoon over peaches.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool for 10 minutes.
- Invert onto serving plate and serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whip cream.
