500 Year Old Oak Tree in Lafayette, Louisiana

500 Year Old Oak Tree in Lafayette, Louisiana

I love to travel and experience new places, new food, and lifestyles that are different than my own. Do you? We’ve had the amazing opportunity to live in some great places because of the Army and I’ve developed an adventurous spirit because of it. So, I was super excited to be able to visit Ashley and her family in Louisiana a couple of times and it has become one of my favorite places. If you get a chance to travel in that area, DO IT! Here’s why.

Louisiana Food

Oh my heavens! Shrimp boils, Gumbo, Cajun, Po Boys, etc. etc. etc. Do I need to say more? (I did taste Alligator; not bad, but still can’t bring myself to suck the head of a crawfish.)

The water is super clear. It’s the plants that causes the water to look murky.

Yes, that's an Alligator.

Yes, that’s an Alligator.

This is just a small part of what there is to see and do in Louisiana. It’s a beautiful place!

I can not finish without mentioning how nice the people are. Life is slower paced and neighbors take care of each other and are so giving.

I can’t wait to go back and see more.

So many adventures in Louisiana.

Dru About Dru

There are so many things I could say but I will just start with the basics. Mother to 4. Grandmother to 11 (Yes, 11. All under the age of 9.) I am a former Army wife and we spent 15 years traveling around the world. It was such a thrill to have seen so many places and meeting lifetime friends. I spent many years working in the craft industry and love getting together with friends and creating. I have a lifelong love of thrift shops, antiques, and yard sales.

  1. In general, traveling is a great thing, I agree with you, for example, I really like to travel to some mystical places for myself, this time I chose Chernobyl because its history surprised me very much, you can learn more about this city here, because I found very interesting stories and blogs about it!
