BurlapFabric.com sent me a red burlap stocking that I just love and wanted to use on a wreath or wall hanging rather than just hanging it on a mantle. I was then reminded that Walmart offers a variety of sizes of “pallet wood” boards in the craft department. Immediately I knew what I was going to do and this is what I came up with.
Christmas Stocking Door Hanger Supplies
- Red Burlap Stocking (burlapfabric.com)
- Pallet wood board (Walmart)
- Carpet tacks
- Christmas greenery and picks
- Cotton batting or stuffing
- Ribbon
- Wire
- Screws
- Glue Gun
Christmas Stocking Door Hanger Instructions
- I like the color of the pallet wood so I didn’t paint it, but you could.
- Tie a ribbon around the top part of the stocking.
- Lightly glue the stocking to the board to keep it in place. I folded the top of the stocking down to add interest.
- Nail the carpet tacks around the edge of the stocking into the pallet wood leaving the top open. Don’t pull the stocking too tight. Allow some give so you have room to fill.
- Stuff the bottom half of the stocking with the batting or stuffing.
- Insert the greenery and picks and arrange.
- On the back insert screws on both sides at the top leaving a little of the screw up. Wrap a piece of wire around both screws to make a hanger.
This turned out to be so easy and so so cute. I love it. We would love for you to pin it.
