I’ve been busy preparing some of our favorite recipes to show you that we are going to have for the holiday. When I have company over for the 4th of July I want food that is easy to put together, but filling and fun. With parades, activities, family time, and fire works it’s the only way to go. I’ve always been a fan of coconut. I remember my dad buying whole coconuts at the grocery store, breaking it open, and giving all of us a piece to eat. I know for many it’s an acquired taste or many just don’t care for it. But, did you know it’s considered a SUPER FOOD? Coconut comes in many forms and I think everyone can find a form of it that they like. There is coconut oil, coconut milk, coconut flour, and plain old flaked coconut. I love it! One of my favorite’s is coconut gelato.

I think fondue is so fun and delicious. We don’t make it very often so it’s a special thing at our house. We do take our candle fondue pots camping for a quick dessert. We warm up chocolate and caramel and serve them with fruit and cookies. The kids love it!

I was introduced to crepes by my husband who lived in Belgium for two years. I was hooked. They are extremely versatile and can be served savory or sweet or both in the same meal. We’ve used them for special occasions because they are so very delicious, but they are so easy. Some people feel like they are too complicated, but it’s just the opposite. Give them a try! And because they are French doesn’t that make them a perfect idea for a romantic dinner or breakfast in bed?
