May Day

Hi Everyone!

Have you ever heard of “May Day”?  May 1st used to be a big deal many, many years ago and has a lot of history associated with it.  It also used to be a major holiday for many countries and was quite a political event every year.  Farmers were also known to celebrate May 1st as a time that most of their seeding was finished and to celebrate the blessing of having fertile ground.  Now, it’s basically a celebration of Spring and showing your love for family and friends.  I’ve been a fan of this day since I was very young.

Hazel & Ruby

For several years in my career I was so fortunate to work in the craft and scrapbooking industry.  I’ve been a Buyer for Robert’s Craft Stores and Memories Scrapbook Stores.  I’ve also worked on the manufacturing side of a few scrapbook companies in various positions from design to customer service.  As a Buyer I would review and analyze 100’s of products every day to come up with what I thought were the best products to sell in our stores.  I am constantly keeping my eye on what the trends are and any new products that come out in the market.  It’s fun for me because I also like to craft and DIY in my spare time.  So, when I see new products coming out that I like or hear of a new company that is producing amazing product I want to shout it to the world and especially to our sweet blog followers and friends.

Fancy Crows

Crows

I’ve been seeing alot of crows and owl decor for Halloween and wanted to get in on the action.  My local dollar store carries these cute crows and I also had these old bed springs I picked up at a flea market that I thought would make some great stands.  I think candle sticks or spools would also work.
