I love this song….Alabama’s “Angels Among Us”

I hope you don’t mind me getting a little personal again. I’ve been thinking about “ANGELS”. Maybe it’s because it’s Christmas and seeing the many nativities and angel decorations have brought it to me. Maybe it’s because I’ve thought about the angel that brought the world the news of the birth of the Christ child. Maybe because I’ve lost my son and I know he is watching over us. And maybe it’s because I have amazing people who have come into my life and have been a support and strength to me.
IT’S ALL OF THE ABOVE!
You are all angels in my book spreading your love all around, but you know those special few who can come into your life and stay awhile or forever. And those few who pop in and out of your life but leave a lasting impression; who have brought a marvelous message or lesson to learn. You know! Those few who you feel are instant soul mates; someone you feel you’ve know before.
Have you ever thought that these people were put in your life for a reason? I believe they were. I was asked by a friend the other day if I believed in coincidences. I firmly said “No, I don’t. I think everything happens for a reason”.
Have you ever focused on why you have a special bond with a new acquaintance. I feel they are bringing me something I might need or a message. Maybe just to give me that extra love I need when I’m in a dark place.
After my son’s death I’ve tried to put more meaning into what happens to me and my circumstances and what I’m supposed to learn from a situation. But, often it’s the people I meet or have in my life that have brought me the answers and help I’m looking for. I believe they are angels or messengers sent to help me. Little ‘ol me.
I bet all of you reading this can say you’ve got special people (angels) in your life and that if they had never come into your life you would feel that something might be missing. That you might be a little lost and have unanswered questions.
Of course, my immediate family are angels. They are there for me through everything. I can’t imagine life without them.
I have an angel of a sister. She has dropped everything to support me and love me. She even offered her home to me at the hardest time of my life because I couldn’t live in my own home. Always a listening ear and no judgments. The sweet texts she sends every now and then just to let me know that she loves me was exactly what I needed at that very moment. She has a special gift of being able to hear those promptings and come to my aid. She has done that for other’s, as well.
My sister is a Barber and had an amazing experience the other day while cutting the hair of a family friend. My sister had thought she recognized him but couldn’t place where. As they were talking it came to both of them who each other were and that he was a former neighbor of mine. They talked about how we were doing as a family after losing Jeremy. He left for a little bit after that but then came back with a small piece of paper with the name of a book and it’s author. At that moment he bent down and on the top of his hat was the symbol of “Captain America”. You’re probably thinking “so what”, but we put a Captain America shirt on Jeremy under his clothes for his burial. His son had gotten that shirt for his birthday which was two days after his death. My sister started to tear up when she saw our friend’s hat and explained the significance. To me the symbol on the hat told me that Jeremy used our friend (whom he was close to and was his scout leader) to send me a message and he also did it through my sister whom I feel close to. I got your message Jeremy. My sister bought the book for me and I’m reading it. I still am in awe of how this all took place and so grateful for my ANGEL sister who was able to bring this message to me.
I also have a tireless and patient friend who is always supportive and loved me even when I haven’t been so lovable. She has never given up on me as a friend. There have been years of time go by when we haven’t spoken but we always seem to find each other again. She’s brought me so much love throughout my life and I’m so very grateful our paths have crossed over and over again.
A sweet angel whom I didn’t know brought Christmas to us two years ago after the worst time of our lives. She gathered church members and friends to bring us gifts, food, and money. She didn’t have to do this especially because she had lost her own brother to suicide a few years earlier. They brought truckloads of gifts and food. It really was a site to see and to this day and always she will be an angel to us as a family brightening our Christmas during a really hard time when we may not have had much of a Christmas.
These are just a few of the many sweet and supportive people in my life. I appreciate and love them so very much.
So, my challenge to you is to recognize the ANGELS in your life and look at how you can be an ANGEL to others. Listen to the promptings that come to you to offer help and support to others. We are here to help and lift each other. I know this is something I’m going to work on.
With love you for each of you during the holidays!
Dru you are one of the angels in my life and so grateful our paths have crossed. There have been many times that you have been there for me through your quiet example. We have some wonderful memories together and I am blessed to know you. Thank you my Angel Dru.
