I love the look of topiaries used in home décor. They add a touch of greenery that is different than your typical house plants. You can find artificial topiaries at many home décor stores, but my favorites are the live plants that I turn into topiaries. They are usually much cheaper to make, too. Here is one I’ve had for two years that started out pretty small and it continues to grow.

Painting Furniture With Children

If you’re like me painting anything with children makes me nervous. I have to mentally prepare myself. Even though they want to do their best there’s always the worry about a mess. If you don’t care about a few drips or a less than perfect finish why not let them try. So, after a good nights rest and some prior planning I was ready to have my children do some furniture painting.

Decorating With Cotton Branches

You may have noticed in the last few months that cotton stems and cotton bolls have been very popular in home decor and wedding decor. Well, I’m loving the trend, too. A few weeks ago at a vintage market we participated in we decided to sell some cotton bolls and we sold about 70 pieces.

We purchased ours directly from a North Carolina farm called Cottonman. It arrived beautiful and clean and we were so happy with the product. So, because of our success I wanted to gather some ideas on ways to use cotton stems and cotton bolls.

DIY Blanket Ladder

Lately I’ve been noticing that many are using blanket ladders in their home decor. They are a unique and fun way to store throws and quilts. So, I went shopping, but yikes are they expensive! I didn’t find any that I liked that were under $130. So, what’s a girl to do? Make one!
