Today we are focusing on Snowman Crafts and I’m pretty excited about seeing what everyone comes up with. I live in the deep south and we don’t get any snow even though the temperatures can get pretty cold, so I’m living vicariously through the beautiful snowy pictures I see all over the web. I’m from Utah, so I’ve lived in lots of snow, but there’s something about the first snow of the season and having the trees and ground covered in white during the holidays that I miss.

For today I’ve come up with a fun Snowman Kit to help decorate a snowman for you lucky people who have snow to play in.

pieces for creating a snowman

Here’s what you need to do:

Snowman Kit Supplies

  • This snowman printable for the glasses, mouth, and bow tie. To keep it waterproof you will need to laminate these pages and then cut them out.
  • Superglue
  • 6 long (3 1/4″) golf tees
  • 1″ or larger google eyes
  • 1/4 yard of flannel for bag
  • 1/2 yard of black felt for hat
  • 1/2 sheet of orange felt for nose
  • large flower for hat (I used a plastic bow found in the wrapping paper section at the store.)
  • 1/3″ dowel 6 inches long
  • black and orange thread

Snowman Kit Instructions

  • Once the face pieces are laminated and cut out glue the google eyes on the glasses. Experiment with the placement of your eyes to make a fun expression.
  • Glue two golf tees on each of the laminated pieces on the back outside edges. You will use these to stick the pieces into the snowman.
  • To make the nose use the following graphic found at Whimsy Love.

  • For the hat I followed this design from Make It Do. Add a big flower to the front.
  • For the flannel bag cut two rectangle pieces 12″x15″. Place them right sides together and sew around two long sides and one short side using a 1/4″ seem allowance. Turn right side out. Fold the opening down 1/4″ and then fold down again a 1/2″ Sew around that edge to create a finished bag.

Wouldn’t these make great neighbor gifts, too?

Here’s a tag printable that you could attach to the top of the bag to give as gifts.

How about making some snow ice cream? My grandma used to make this all the time and it’s such a great memory.

Do you have any snow memories or traditions. I would love to read about them below.

There are so many things I could say but I will just start with the basics. Mother to 4. Grandmother to 11 (Yes, 11. All under the age of 9.) I am a former Army wife and we spent 15 years traveling around the world. It was such a thrill to have seen so many places and meeting lifetime friends. I spent many years working in the craft industry and love getting together with friends and creating. I have a lifelong love of thrift shops, antiques, and yard sales.
