I adore these planter boxes. They fit in anywhere for a fun addition to your home or garden décor. Below is a tutorial on how I made these useful boxes.
I made two different sizes, a 12″ long box and an 18″ long box. Here’s what you need for the 12″ box:
Flower Box Supplies
-
Two 1″x5″x12″ pieces (I used 1″x6″ wood board trimmed to 1″x5″)
- One 1″x6″x12″ piece (This is the bottom)
- Two six inch wide molding pieces cut 7 1/2″ long
- Wood Glue
- 1 1/2″ Finishing Nails or 1 1/2″ Nail Gun
For the 18″ box you will need:
- Two 1″x5″x18″ pieces (I used 1″x6″ woodboard trimmed to 1″x5″)
- One 1″x6″x18″ (This is the bottom)
- Two six inch wide molding pieces cut 7 1/2″ long
- Wood Glue
- 1 1/2″ Finishing Nails or 1 1/2″ Nail Gun
Flower Box Instructions
Start assembling by adding glue to the long edge of one 1″x6″ piece and attach it to the edge of the 1″x5″ piece.
Nail with a nail gun or finishing nails on both edges and the middle. Repeat with the other 1″x5″ piece.
Glue on both trim pieces, one on each side. Use nail gun or finishing nails to hold them in place. Let everything dry.
Paint with your choice of color. If using outdoors or planting with dirt and flowers seal with a waterproof sealant.
These also look adorable filled with jars.
